SD3 Stepper Motor Drives - Plug and Play

Quite some time ago, Berger Lahr developed 3-phase stepper motors in order to achieve cost reductions compared to 5-phase stepper motors which were commonly used up to that time. Such reductions were possible by using power components from the servo technology. At the same time, the power density was improved and the torque increased by 50% as compared to conventional drives of the same size. Resolutions of up to 10,000 steps per revolution can be achieved. The stepper motor technology does not require encoder systems and position controllers.
SD3 is a new stepper motor amplifier for controlling 3-phase stepper motors that was developed with a focus on the optimisation of functional and economic aspects. The compact unit integrates a power supply unit and a mains filter. The mains voltage is selectable: 115 and 230 V. The opto-isolated pulse/direction interface covers the voltage range from 3.5 to 24 V. SD3 is a cost-effective, high-performance complete solution, available with 350 and 750 W (with fan) and identical housing dimensions for stepper motor applications.
A stepper motor drive is particularly suitable for applications involving short strokes and early torque development or requiring excellent constant velocity characteristics. It excels with easy handling right from commissioning: connect the motor and set the current and the step resolution via switches - done.
